Description:
#5952, Fr.Wilh. Heym, Suhl: A Heym Suhl Made 1929 Double Rifle Drilling Original 2 Barrel Set, Barrels numbered 1 & 2; #2 barrel is a 9.3 x 62 (Mauser Rimless) x 9.3 x 62 x 16 gauge, The #1 barrel is a 16 x 16 x 9.3 x 62. This a Best Quality All Original 1929 Heym with dolls head crossbolt, sideclip action body, scalloped action, bolstered frame, bushed strikers for all 3 barrels, double underlugs with double bite, set front trigger for the rifle barrel, top tang barrel selector for the rifle barrel, spring loaded locking button on the rifle barrel selector slide and full engraving coverage. The #2 barrel with the rifle barrel at the bottom and a rifle barrel on the left and a 16 bore on the upper right at .674 .030" (Full) 2 1/2" chamber at 25 1/4" Krupp steel barrels. The #1 barrel with the rifle barrel on the bottom and the 16 bores on top at .674 .028 & .034 (Full & Full), 2 1/2" chambers at 26 3/4" Krupp steel barrels. It is 14 1/16 x 1 9/16 x 2 13/16" over the original horn buttplate, both barrels with their own numbered forends, sling eyes, cheekpiece, steel engraved trigger guard with an extended tang to the steel grip cap. It is 7 lbs. 8 oz. with the 16 x 16 x 9.3 x 62 barrels and 8 lbs. 6 oz. with the 9.3 x 62 x 9.3 x 62 x 16 gauge barrels. 90% coverage of fine scroll engraving, The original barrel blue is at 92% on the double rifle barrels (#2 Set), The blue on the drilling/shot barrels (#1 Set) is at 98% but I believe were re-rust blued, The frame finish is at 80% with a soft gray patina and never brushed, The wood remains at 85% and is as solid as a rock, The checkering overall remains at 90%; Now the good news, the double rifle (#2) barrels have excellent plus bores including the shot barrel, the drilling (#1) has an absolute excellent rifle bore and the shot barrels are excellent as well. This Suhl made Drilling has nearly all of its mechanical life left, it is tight and on the face and has been well kept. The piece comes in a very nice leg-o-mutton trunk for both barrels. This quality gun represents all the fine features of a Classic Pre-War Suhl made Drilling. Just take a look at the style, workmanship, mechanics and grace of this gun and compare it to the goofy current stuff on the market today that sells for a lot more money. How some people can go out and buy this current made crap and pay the kind of money they do just blows me away.
