Description:
This is a very attractive and scarce factory two-tone Colt 70 Series Mark IV Government Model that has been used, but well cared for.  This Colt is serial number 70B49785, which puts it's year of manufacture in 1983.  In the early eighties Colt offered this pistol in this unique combination of satin nickel and blued small parts in the 70 Series Government Models, and apparently they did not sell as well as the other finish options at that time making them scarce today.  Colt's Mark IV Series 70 Government Models are essentially a copy of the WW2 1911A1's they made but with a higher degree of fit and finish and some small parts changes, like replacing the standard barrel bushing with a collet bushing for better accuracy.  This example is a one owner gun who purchased it new and shot it periodically over the last 30 plus years.  It was always cleaned after use and maintained in proper storage.  This 70 Series has a factory blued barrel, barrel bushing, plunger, trigger, slide stop, safety, and grip safety.  The blued parts all still show gloss blue and look nice with some high edge wear and two small marks on the left side of the trigger where a shoe was installed at some point.  The remainder of the gun has the factory satin nickel finish.  The satin nickel finish still looks really good but does show some minor handling marks and wear typical of light use over the years.  The ejection port was altered in the late 80's with a flared relief cut machined in professionally to aid in reliable ejection.  The bore is excellent in this Colt.  It is bright with sharp lands and grooves in the rifling and shows zero pitting or erosion.  This Government model comes wearing a set of of factory Colt smooth wooden grips with silver Rampant Colt medallions.  They are in excellent shape with no cracks or repairs, and the medallions are clean and tight to the grips.  This pistol comes with TWO original nickel finish Colt factory magazines (both in excellent condition).  If you have been looking for a really unique and cool Series 70 Colt 1911 to your collection, this Mark IV Government model would be an excellent choice.  It still has enough condition and scarcity to be considered an investment, but you could take it to the range as well without feeling too guilty!
