Description:
Originally manufactured in 1940 this G2111b code Model 21 was built as a trap grade. Original  2 3/4" chambers with solid rib, 30" length barrels retain the Full x Mod choke configuration. Single selective trigger and ejectors are original to the gun. The gun was returned early in its life and the repair order only lists "refinish" The original owners family believes that ir was engraved at that time at Winchester when he had had it also modified to a straight grip configuration. The engraving is of excellent quality high high relief Dogs, Pheasants, Grouse, and Ducks as well as period rose and scroll work and a very unique checkered/cross hatch pattern on the top of the receiver. The muzzles were treated to wedding bands and the chambers received scroll work. It is also believed that the original forend was retained while the original or a replacement straight grip stock was fitted, it has 13 5/16" LOP to the rear position trigger with an original M21 marked Winchester butt plate, 1 1/2" DAC and 2 1/8" DAH. ( I owned his duck gun for awhile that had the exact same dimensions) The grain and finish match between the  forend and butt stock is very close.  The second work order from Cody references fitting the 28" solid rib WS-1 & WS-2 choked barrels, The skeet barrels show little to no wear mechanically and in the finish. The bead is missing from the front sight base in the skeet barrels. The engraving on this gun is extremely well executed. Unfortunately we can not document the engraver as it is unsigned and there is no additional information from Cody on the original refinish work order. Mechanically the gun is tight and ready for use.  There is some slight fad on the lower contact points of the receiver and a couple of blue rubs on the original 30" barrels.  An very unique, versatile and stunning M21
