Description:
This is an early Savage Model 24 DL (Deluxe Model) that was made prior to 1968, and has the barrel selector button on the receiver (not on the hammer). This was the highest "grade" that Savage made in this model. The Deluxe model featured a checkered Walnut stock set, a silvered receiver, and a gold plated trigger. The condition of this example is very good overall and still looks very attractive. There are a few small scratches in the finish on the metal and a few small dings in the wood, but nothing that takes away much from the overall attractive looks of this piece. Both the shotgun and rifle bores are minty and clean. The .22 barrel has nice sharp rifling and the .410 gauge shotgun barrel is free from pitting, dents, or bulges. The .22 barrel is grooved for tip-off scope mounts, but shows no evidence of ever having a scope mounted on it. The factory black plastic grip cap and butt plate are in excellent shape and free from cracks or chips. The friction fit forearm is still nice and tight to the gun with no wiggle, and the rear sight still has the original elevator in place. Everything on this Savage works 100% like it did the day it left the factory.
