Description:
I've seen a lot of Blunderbusses but nothing quite like this one. Proof marks indicate that it is Italian built. The name on the lock plate sounds French.? A very unique feature and the part I have never seen before is that it has a folding stock. Just past the trigger guard is a hinge. On top there would be a button, which is missing, that you would depress and you would be able to fold the buttstock section forward. What advantage?? Metal has been cleaned with some rust appearing, mostly on the bbl. Lock plate is pretty bright silver color. The muzzle flare is just under 2" and in an oval shape. Looking at it from the muzzle end it looks like an old hot roder's trick from the 60's or 70's where you would flatten the end of your exhaust on your 55 Chevy. Actual inside bore diameter would be about a 20 bore. Bbl is 18" and overall the gun is about 30". This is a flintlock and the action and frizzen work. Mechanically it is relatively sound. All furniture is brass and in good cond. The wood is also not too bad. A chip missing on the right side towards the front. A few cracks but overall sound. If you are into old, weird and cool this would be a great gun for you!
