Remington Sportsman 20 Gauge Field
Most folks know that when John Browning took this iconic design to Winchester he, after many years of selling his designs outright asked Winchester to give him a modest fee for each unit sold, Winchester declined, then as he was waiting to present the design to Remington the president of Remington dies whilst John Browning and his son were waiting in the outer office. Next stop was FN and the rest is history. This is the Remington licensed variant, serial # 1079325. It has a 28 inch solid rib barrel ( a bit rare) fitted with a Polychoke device that allows the shooter to adjust his or her barrels choke to the task at hand. The bore and chamber are excellent. The guns wood does show some signs of handling and use. It was purchased used and presented as a gift to our retired navy captain. He then pursued ducks and upland game with the shotgun. The fore end has some scratches those are not cracks, I have removed the fore end and inspected them thoroughly. The butt stock exhibits the same. The captain affirms they are from the canoe and jon boat. The bluing is 70-80 percent intact, thin in areas dark in others. LOP is 13 ½ inches. These shotguns are as reliable good old John B designed them.
