Springfield Armory M1 Garand 5463xxx, made about 1954. Barrel is Springfield dated December 1954 and has a bright bore. Nice looking postwar Springfield stock with stars & eagle stamp. All marked parts are SA, no import marks. All parts are described below and shown in pictures. This M1 is in excellent used condition.

The rifle has been disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and test fired. Watch our video at our YouTube channel Fernwood Armory TV.

Parts were clean for photos, coated with oil and greased where appropriate when reassembled.

Two M1 enbloc clips (no ammo) and sling are included.
 
Springfield Armory M1 sn 5463xxx Specs:
 

Receiver: marked “F 6528291” on leg, heat lot A52. Excellent condition with some finish wear at corners.

Barrel: marked “SA F6535448 12 54 A222C” in op rod slot, with several “P” marks, punch mark, “T” and small stars and eagle stamp. Bore is bright, good crown and rifling. Chamber is in the white.

Barrel Gauge Measurements: Muzzle Wear (MW): 1 ½, Throat Erosion (TE):  3

Barrel band: two-piece flat top with roll pin

Clip latch: late square front type.

Op rod: flat side, marked “6535382 SA”

Op rod catch: late type, unmarked

Bullet guide: stamped with notch

Follower: late type, unmarked

Follower arm: no bevel, unmarked

Follower rod: long fork, riveted

Bolt: marked “6528287-SA A13”

Sight knobs: elevation “WCE”, windage “DRC”

Rear sight cover: late type with ribs

Rear sight aperture: double track

Trigger housing:  marked “6528290-SA”

Trigger guard: stamped with stamped hook

Trigger: late type, no extra hole

Hammer: marked “SA C5546008”

Safety: round top, marked “SA 11”

Gas cylinder: wide sight platform, flat on top of rear ring. Gas cylinder group finish is very good. The gas cylinder/barrel fit has been tightened to maximize accuracy.

Gas cylinder lock: late “high hump” type, unmarked

Gas cylinder screw: cross slot, poppet valve type marked “P” and “O”

Stock: walnut, postwar SA, very good lockup. Circled “P” on pistol grip, DAS (stars and eagle) on left side. No cracks, far fewer than average dings/scratches, very nice appearance.

Handguards: walnut, same condition as stock

Buttplate: good condition with finish wear.

Sling: used, commontype, MRT marked but date unreadable, probably 1952
