Description:

WWI JAPANESE Murata Type 38 Infantry Rifle

Used from the Russo-Japanese War through WWII

Here we present a Japanese Type 38 Infantry Rifle, made circa 1905. This rifle was an upgrade to the Type 30. This design was the project of Major Nambu, famed and prolific designer in Japan. The Type 38 has been called the best service rifle of WWI.

The top of the receiver is marked with an Imperial Japanese Chrysanthemum. It is made at the Koishikawa Arsenal in Tokyo, per the mark on the left side of the receiver. There are other characters on each side of the stock. The stock was originally made with another piece for the bottom of the butt portion.

The overall condition is poor. The metal surfaces are dark and uniform. The markings are clear and legible. The stock has been shortened. It shows a lot of use and has been repaired at the wrist. The bore is well-rifled and dark. The bolt is incomplete and the action is not functional.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 31-1/2 inches in length.

Caliber: 6.5x50mm

Overall condition as seen in photos.
