Description:
Serial #10216, .50 Caliber, 21 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. The barrel has retained 92-95% of the original blue with mild plum-brown starting to form, as well as some light fading at the muzzle. The frame has a commensurate amount of the original bright color case-hardening with some very mild fading in spots and some scattered spots of mild surface freckling. About 85-90% of the original bright nitre blue remains on the barrel lock spring and the brass opener has a dark yellow-ochre patina. The walnut stock and forend have been very lightly refurbished with an excellent re-applied military oil finish, a few extremely mild handling marks that has left the inspector cartouche still crisp on the left side of the wrist. The barrel lock-up is still rock solid and the mechanism is tight and fully functional. This is a terrific looking Smith, in excellent condition, and would make a great example for a collection.
