Description:
Get out the books on this rare piece, a Smith & Wesson M13 Aircrewman airweight in 38 spl.with the ALL ALUMINUM CYLINDER!.Manufactured 1954 to 1956- most of these authentic revolvers have been destroyed. There had been a specially loaded 129 grain round issued for this gun that was a low power version of the standard 38 special. This is basically a Model 12 Airweight built on the "K" frame, round butt 6 shot revolver and were serial numbered from C247000 to C405363 and have the inscription on the top strap: "Revolver, Lightweight, M13" (stamped) and "Property of U.S. Airforce" stamped down the backstrap. This gun is serialized C277XXX Extensive research has been done on this revolver including a letter from Smith & Wesson and ownership data, the original issue shoulder holster is also included and has the owners name inside. Many supported documents are included.
Please contact me by email with any questions, photos of specific areas of the documents, gun and holster.Serious buyers only please, I just don't have time to answer history seekers or curious gun people. There are many publications and especially reference material outlining this revolver.
The condition is excellent with 98%+ of the original finish intact including the walnut "diamond" grips. This gun is also called a "Flat latch" because of the cylinder release button (latch). The gun has been fired with the issue rounds only and the cylinder face exhibits this evidence and has not been touched up.
Overall this is a well documented and authenticated revolver along with the very rare issue should holster. These guns do not come along very often so don't miss this opportunity to own a very rare piece of U.S. Airforce and Smith & Wesson history.
Again, please contact me by email with any questions you may have.
