the action works good on this old stevens You can still get ammo from Bertram . wood has been refinished look good . The front sight is a beeche's fold down . appear original the rear sight is a reproduction vernerior sight for wind and elevation. There is some blue finish in places on the half round octogon barrell . The bore is dark an rifeling is worn in my humble opinion You could fire a shell through it I m not sure how straight it will go . Black powder is agressive this was most likely a kids rifle and they love to shoot and most never cleaned the bores. You could get it relined for a $100 or so
