Nice C&R S&W.38 DA Grip Safety Hammerless Revolver
5-Shot Smith & Wesson Top Break, Double Action Revolver
Here we present a Smith & Wesson .38 Double Action Hammerless Revolver, 4th Model, made circa 1900 in Springfield, Massachusetts. This revolver was made to be a simple, compact and reliable firearm that one could carry in a pocket or a holster around the turn of the 20th Century. Several other iterations preceded the 4th Model, and each one improved on the last. This revolver features an internal hammer design to remove risk of snagging or stopping the action. The double action only function removes the temptation to cock the hammer into single action. There is a grip safety built into the back of the grip frame. The frame is a top-break design that activates the automatic ejector. These are very nice features from the turn of the 20th Century!
Condition is near fine. This revolver has been nicely refinished and retains 95% blue. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match, with the exception of the grips. The bore is well-rifled and clean. The action is excellent.
