Description:
This Remington 1903A3 rifle is an excellent example of a World War 2 production rifle that was restocked with a Korean War era "scant" style stock.  Everything on this rifle appears to be Remington factory original parts except for the "scant" stock, which has a boxed "SA" over an "S" cartouche on the left side of the butt.  It also has a "P" stamped on the partial pistol grip.  This stock could have been put on the rifle after WW2 by a government arsenal or an individual who preferred the partial pistol grip, there is no way to tell for sure.  This '03A3 would have originally been in a straight grip, "R" marked stock during WW2.  This Remington is a nice mixture of blued and parkerized parts which is correct for this production period.  As you can see in the pictures, it is a very attractive 1903A3 with lots of eye appeal because of these finishes.  The finishes all appear to be original and are in excellent overall condition.  The parkerized parts rate a solid 93% plus, with the floorplate and triggerguard showing the most wear.  The blued parts are also in excellent shape overall, with only some minor high-edge wear and some minor spots of oxidation showing when examined.  The parkerized barrel is stamped with an "RA" over a U.S. Ordnance Bomb and "9-43" behind the front sight.  The 2-groove barrel has an excellent bore.  It is bright and clean, with sharp lands and grooves in the rifling and no erosion or pitting visible.  The stock is also in excellent shape, with no wear showing and only the smallest of handling marks visible.  This Remington 1903A3 works 100% the way it did when it left the factory in September of 1943.  It is complete with an original WW2 U.S. Military Boyt marked leather sling.  You can make out the "Boyt" stamp but the 2 digit date stamp below that is not legible, but it certainly is an original WW2 production sling.  If you have been looking for a nice clean Model 1903A3 made during World War 2 for under $1000 here is your chance!  It could be left as-is, or the new owner could find a straight grip Remington 03A3 stock to put this rifle in to make it 100% correct.
