For sale, a very beautiful example of the Finnish Model 1939 Military Service Rifle. This is the first example we have had here at the shop in years. This military rifle is based off of the Mosin Nagant 91/30 action was adopted and built during World War 2 from 1939 on to the early 1970s. The Finns took everything good from the 91/30 Mosin and improved the weak areas to come up with their version, the Model 1939 Service Rifle. While it bears a resemblance to the Mosin Nagant 91/30, this rifle is built out of better materials and is stronger in construction to the Russian counterpart. The Finns also took into account the subzero temperatures that the rifle would frequently be used in and changed the tolerances slightly in the moving metal parts to reduce seizing, and changed the stock by incorporating a joint to accommodate the wood expanding and contracting when exposed to their unique environment. They also improved the adjustable rear sight to make it more precise as well as beefed up the front sight. The 91/30's sling attachment points were also improved by mounting permanent sling swivels to metal backing plates countersunk into the wood. The condition on this rifle is excellent. It appears to have been reworked prior to be stored. The only serial number that I can find is 25 which is stamped on the receiver and the bolt handle. The bore is minty and bright in this rifle. The rifling is prominent with sharp lands and grooves. The barrel is stamped near the muzzle with the importers information in very small letters. This rifle was imported by CAI Inc. (Century Arms International). Everything works 100% on this rifle like the day it left the factory new. If you have been looking for a Finnish Model 1939, it would hard to find a better example than this one.
