SUPERIOR CIVIL WAR NORTH SAVAGE REVOLVING FIRE ARMS CO. U.S. ARMY INSPECTED NAVY REVOLVER CA. 1861-2. 36 cal. six shot with 7 1/8th inch barrel. Serial number in the 140x range. Top strap stamped “SAVAGE R.F.A. CO./H.S. NORTH PATENTED JUNE 17, 1856/JAN. 18, 1859/MAY 15, 1860” All original and matching with much original blue (approx. 50%) evenly mixed with plum patina. Screws with nearly all the blue. Loading lever with 905 blue. Has all the correct U.S. Army Sub-inspector’s stamps on the metal parts and a crisp cartouche on the left grip. Perfect working order and near mint bore and chambers. Most were issued early in the Civil War to Union cavalry regiments in Missouri (13 Regiments), Wisconsin and Illinois and usually seen in well used condition. Rare to find one of these in excellent condition.
