This Winchester Model 1892 in 25-20 WCF was the last firearn purchased and owned by the late SETH BULLOCK, first Sheriff of Deadwood South Dakota, Appointed by his best friend, at that time President of the United States,Theddy Roosevelt to be the first US Marshall for the State of South Dakota. Bullock was also a member of Rosevelt's Rough Riders that charged up San Juan Hill during the Spainish American War. On the tremendously successfull HBO series "Deadwood" Bullock's character was played by award winning actor Timothy Olyphant, who late played the lead charactor "Raylan Givins" in the great series "Justified" Another accout of Bullock has him informing Wyatt Earp that since he {Bullock} had just been appointed Sheriff of Deadwood, that Earp's services were no longer required in Deadwood. Earp had wanted the position but was in disfavor with Al Swearengen Local Brothel and hotel owner in Deadwood. Wyatt Earp left and returned to Dodge City. It is also noteworthy to point out that Bullock arrived in Deadwood only two days after Wild Bill HICKOCK was murdered.
Bullock purchase the rifel in 1917 for controlling cyotes on his Belle Frouche ranch. When he was a young boy, he used to hunt rabitts with his sister "Jessie" He had his and her initials custom engraved on the shoulder stock. Bullock later contracted Colon Cansor and passed away in 1919.
