Description:
Norin - LaPour - Heilmann (Dave Norin - Ed LaPour - Steve Heilmann): A Complete and Total Custom 270 Winchester on a Remington Model 720 Action completed September 25, 2010; Remington #41174 is vintage 1942 and the Model 720 is the commercial version of the 1917 Enfield; Ed LaPour of Bremerton, Wash. started the project by surface grinding the action, He then removed the side safety and installed a longer receiver tang, The bolt handle was replaced with a Talley and set up with a 3 position Model 70 style safety, He then added a Blackburn straddle hinged magazine box and altered it to fit the 720 action, A Timney trigger added, Then he installed a 22" Benchmark cut-rifled barrel after squaring the action face and bolt face; He lapped the bolt lugs and barrel threads into the receiver, Barrel band sling eye, NECG band front ramp with a locking sight hood, As originally intended a Lyman 48 receiver sight was installed with no open sights on the barrel; Then in 2016 it was sent back to Mr. Ed LaPour and he very professionally installed a Griffin & Howe double lever side mount, It now is with a Leupold VX-2 3-9 x 33 Ultralight satin finished scope, The addition of the G&H side mount is on record with the American Custom Gunmakers Guild, It then went to Steve Heilmann for hand polishing and detailing and he re-did the matting on the receiver ring, Jerome Glimm then re-cut the original Remington markings; An English Walnut stock blank was chosen and off to Dave Norin it went; A pure Classic stock with excellent color & contrast, Shadowline European cheekpiece, Full point pattern checkering with a mullered border, Jerry Fisher case hardened steel grip cap, Ebony forend tip, Double screw tiedown rear sling eye, The stock is finished with his own Teak oil finish, 13 3/4" LOP over a 7/8" Decelerator pad, 7 lbs. 15 oz., Dave then rust blued the entire barreled action, It has a complete jeweled bolt and follower. The rifle is finished to meticulous detail, the original blue remains at 100%, the original stock finish is at 99%, the checkering remains at 100% and the bore is new. Dave electro acid etched the floorplate "Hallmarked by The American Custom Gunmakers Guild" as this piece is documented at ACGG as being crafted and designed by their members and is archived as #118. This is a great American Classic bolt rifle by a trio of guys that has served our trade well. ///////////////////////////////////// Dave Norin is very talented in both metal and wood and a lot of versatility leaves his capable hands beyond just custom bolt rifles.
