Description:

True Statement: If this was a Winchester M1897 (the hammer shotgun competitor) it would be priced at over $5000 and probably wouldn’t be as fancy!!

Summary: Marlin Model 16 Beautiful Factory “C” Engraved Full choke 26" barrel.  Overall about 60% original blue finish.  Excellent bright bore.  Not spoiled with later-added rubber recoil pad.  Select burl walnut buttstock, Checkered Pistol grip.

This is a "C" grade Factory Engraved shotgun, Deluxe Pistol Grip, Checkered wood, Fancy Burl Walnut buttstock, with Original "Marlin" Hard Rubber Buttplate.  All model 16’s were in 16 Gauge and chambered for 2-3/4" shells.  The buttplate is original, and has not been broken or chipped as so many have.

Right side barrel numbered 96151F, indicating Full Choke (barrel number never matches frame on these).  Top of barrel marked with Nov 6, 1894, May 12, 1896, and June 2, 1896 patent dates.  Top of barrel marked "16 Ga".  Left side barrel stamped "Special Smokeless Steel".  This model was offered in 26” and 28” barrels, with choke size being specified by customer.

Left frame Engraved with Four Flying Ducks in oval surrounded by attractive Small Scrolls.  Right frame Engraved with Two Flying Ducks on bolt cover, and with lower receiver area filled with additional small scrolls.  Fancy engraving pattern around receiver serial number.  Upper tang also engraved.

Mechanism works properly and locks up tight as new.  Hammer safety notch holds as designed, and is not broken.

Frame retains about 90% bright blue, barrel 30% fading blue.  No dents in metal surfaces.  Wood has never been sanded or refinished.  The expected nicks are on buttstock from past hunting trips.  This model was produced 1903-10, and in far fewer numbers than the Winchester M1897 (83,000 vs. 1.2 Million)

In some cases, I can ship directly to a C&R licensed individual.
