Description:

SUDD MESSERFABRIK, GEFREES in double oval etched TM. This maker is rated as a “7” on the rarity scale in both Ralph Siegert’s SA book and the “McSarr” scale: one of the rarest. Nickel-silver hilt fittings show very minor surface wear/age patina with reverse lower crossguard marked “Fr”.    Medium brown, fine-grained wooden grip shows light surface wear with two faint depressions and one tiny fracture over the SA silver roundell. Eagle is the finest I have seen, with 99.9% detail intact. Measuring 370 mm in length with the scabbard, this SA Dagger is engraved "Alles für Deutschland" on the blade, exhibiting beautiful crossgraining, with the usual in and out runner marks, semi-sharp edges and a very sharp tip. It is maker marked with the Süddeutsche Messerfabrik GmbH, Gefrees wide double oval stamp on the reverse ricasso, the blade with some discoloring, staining  at the ricasso end on both sides, measuring 220 mm in length and rating near extremely fine. Cast Nickel silver fittings on both crossguards, along with the pommel, the reverse of the central crossguard with the "Fr" (Franken) SA Group mark, exhibiting light contact. Wooden handle with one small dent above the eagle's wing, with a very smooth finish and without chipping, fitting tight to both crossguards. The embedded finely-detailed nickel silver eagle shows well and rates near extremely fine, while the SA insignia exhibits scattered tiny marks indicating light contact, rating near extremely fine. The scabbard fittings exhibit very light contact, with a few small dents on the chape. The brown anodized body has had a gloss finish, exhibiting contact marks and wear in the paint from active use, the ring attached to the locket, the throat and chape held firmly in place via two screws each, the scabbard measuring 245 mm in length. Near extremely fine.
