Description:
SOLD...Antique Colt Single Action Army With 7 1/2” barrel. .45 Colt caliber. Pearls grips. With factory letter.. Here is well used but decent ole Colt SAA. It has the sought after classic 71/2” barrel and in the .45 caliber. Very nice and wonderful patina real mother of pearl grips. S/N 90777 and made in 1883.. Factory letter states all correct nickel finish with barrel length and grips not listed as is very common as the 71/2” barrel was standard at this time as was one piece wood grips.... Shipped to the very famous Hartley and Graham New York City 1883... All matching numbers on the frame, trigger guard and butt. No numbers on the barrel or cylinder as Colt stopped numbering these parts on nickel gun around the 70,000 range. The gun is a fairly smooth medium dark brown patina. Never cleaned or ground on like so many of these have been. Still has good traces of original nickel finish on the ejector housing and a couple small spots on the frame, ect. Just not much finish at all remaining.. Does have a few small spots of very light pin prick roughness as can be expected but no big pits or bad spots. The barrel address is very weak from carry and holster wear but can see most of it. Just hard to photo it. Looks better in hand than the photos. Frame PAT markings are also a weak from wear but can still make them out as is the S/N on the butt. Can still make them out. Nothing has been re stamped or doctored up to make them look better as so many of these have been. Untouched front sight never filed on or messed with. Still retains the original hammer with the long deep knurling AND the “flared” ejector rod head used for a very short time period in this S/N range. Still has the original cylinder pin with the hole on the end as is correct. The mechanics are in good working order and it locks up good. Just not tight as new as most all these are not unless they have been reworked inside. The trigger only looks like a newer replacement. Safety and half cock notches are positive and hold perfectly. The bore is very good with good rifling and some minor roughness as can be expected from black powder. No big pits or craters and should shoot just fine if you intend to do so. Chambers are also very good with no roughness. The screws are all very good and never abused from tinkering. All are still serviceable and not frozen in.. The grip are wonderful original mother of pearl and have a beautiful color that only age can make. Could very well be original to the gun and put on by the dealer as is mostly the case with special order grips. The grips are absolutely as old as the gun... They do show some minor chipping to the edges on the rear heels and a couple on the right side along the back strap area as you can see in the photos. No big chips, splits or cracks and fit perfect on the gun to the frame and straps. The grip frame does have the correct alinement pin so this is why I say they very well could be original to the gun as most of these Colt's in this S/N range had one piece wood grips with no alinement pin. All in all, not a bad ole Colt at all. Just has seen some hard use as a holster revolver that has worn the markings down but never messed with or altered as so many of these have been over the years. Getting very hard to find unaltered Colt SAA revolvers that I can sell this cheap!!!! Also include the $150 factory letter !!!! If this gun had crisp markings you would be looking at around $3500 or more with the pearl grips but it is what it is and I have it priced with this in mind. I see these guns sell for this price that have been butchered, ground on, polished to death and refinished so this is a very reasonable price for the condition it is in... A very honest classic ole Colt that won't break the bank to own!!! $35 insured shipping. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. I want happy customers...
