Description:
Ithaca Grade 2E .410 Gauge SxS
1 of 40 MADE, BEAVERTAIL, ENGLISH STOCK, AS NEW

General Specs: Ithaca, Year 1932, .410 Gauge, 6lbs 10oz, Side-by-Side
Serial Number: 450674

Collectors and shooters alike cannot help to smile when they handle a fine, vintage American .410 bore double shotgun.  Few were made by any of the 3 big double gun makers that actually produced their guns in the diminutive .410; Parker, L.C. Smith, and Ithaca.  With the adoption of their last and finest model, the New Ithaca Double (or N.I.D), Ithaca made 40 Grade 2E guns in .410.  A RARE GUN INDEED!.  And the Ithaca gun is a fine, well made double  gun.  If you do your research you will find that Ithaca’s NID model is considered to be the strongest, most reliable of all American double guns, second only to Olin’s Winchester Model 21.  Ithaca’s NID model is the best investment in the vintage American double gun market when compared to graded Parkers or L.C. Smiths.  You can afford to own a graded Ithaca .410 for a fraction of the cost of the other two maker's guns.  A Parker graded .410 will exceed $30,000.  An L.C. Smith Ideal Grade .410 with ejectors will set you back over $20,000.  Examine this factory documented Grade 2E NID .410, sn450674 shipped in 1932, and you will find a gorgeous little gun with a dainty beavertail forend, graceful English style straight stock, strong well timed ejectors, restored to new with Turnbull case colors and blue.  The gun was originally shipped to Elting Warner, the editor of FIELD & STREAM magazine in 1932, so it has an interesting history as well.  Can you imagine the invitations Mr. Warner received as the editor of Field & Stream and how many woodcock and quail this little gun has taken?  When we received the gun it was hard used but sound.  The English style buttstock was short and had a pad from the factory.  We used that as our pattern and made an exact copy in every detail; from the diamond shaped grip, the checkering pattern…everything exact except we added length of pull and a checkered butt.  We replaced the beavertail forend as well so it matched the buttstock but copied it exactly.  All other parts are original to the gun.  Everything is like new inside and out, and it is a very attractive gun ready for another 84 years of use.  Most Ithaca collectors would consider this a “SKEET CONFIGURED” .410, with the exception of the 2 triggers.  What a rare, desirable little bird and clays gun.  Don’t let this one pass you by and thanks for looking!
