VERY Rare “APACHE” Knuckles, Knife, Revolver Combo
With Gorgeous Thomas Bland & Sons Labeled Burl Case
Here we present an antique Apache Revolver, Knuckles, Knife Combination, made circa the late 19th Century in Liege, Belgium. The design was patented in 1869 by Louis Dolne. It features a folding handle which doubles as “brass knuckles” (or in this case iron), a folding dagger, and, of course, a 6-shot revolver. Everything folds down into a relatively handy little package, certainly making it appropriate for carry in a jacket pocket. There is no barrel, but each chamber has a short section of rifling. The handle does lock out while the trigger folds down, and the blade has a detent type of retention system.
Legend has it that the name “Apache” originates from a tough French street gang by that name, though that is a contentious subject. Whatever the origin of the name, this is one interesting revolver. Imagine carrying one of these around in Europe 125 years ago. This weapon certainly gave you options, though one would think that any action taken with such a weapon would have to be quite pre-meditated.
This specimen is made of iron. It is marked with Belgian proof marks. It comes in a beautiful burl case with a Thomas Bland & Sons label on the interior. The case appears to have been built for this unique weapon. Bland traces its lineage back to 1840 in Birmingham, England. This case’s label bears the address “106, Strand, Lonodn, W.C.”
The condition of the revolver is good. The iron bears a dark, even patina. The markings are legible. The chambers are rifled and in very good condition. The action is not reliable, sometimes functioning and sometimes not. This is likely due to old and weak springs. The case is in good condition.
