Description:
Charles Lancaster circa 1840s, S/N 1989, 12 ga. percussion, 30" Damascus barrels bear initials "CL".  Rib inscribed "Charles Lancaster 151 New Bond Street London".  Nice original example with some repair to the top left hammer.  Wonderful stock, original checkering, fire-blued steel buttplate.  Bores appear mint.  Shot and powder flasks, tools in leather pouch, original maker's oak case.  This is a best gun of the period.  Lancaster began in 1811 as a gun barrel maker, then set up shop as a gunmaker at 151 New Bond Street, building guns of the highest quality.  His barrels were used in the early guns of  Joseph Manton and James Purdey.  Really neat " barn find".
