Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: For sale, a WW2 era Sauer Model 38-H pistol in .32ACP with a 1942 dated holster. The Sauer 38-H was quite an advanced pistol for it's time. It featured a a lever on the left side of the pistol that acted as a decocker as well as a cocking lever. Because the hammer is internal, it was designed as a safe way to chamber a round with the slide and then decock the hammer for safe carry in a holster or pocket. If the during firing the pistol misfired, this same lever allowed the shooter to quickly re-cock the pistol for a second hit on the primer of that cartridge without racking the slide (a handy feature when firing military ammo with hard primers). The pistol also featured and manual thumb safety, and a visible and tactile loaded chamber indicator at the rear of the slide. The ergonomics of the pistol were considered very good as well, and the pistol quickly earned a reputation for being well built and reliable. This pistol was captured by a soldier in the U.S. Army during World War 2 and brought back to the States as a war trophy. It was likely a private purchase piece by the German soldier who originally owned it, as the pistol has the commercial Nazi proofs (Eagle over "N") and the holster is a military pattern holster but lacks a Waffenamt. The pistol itself is in excellent overall condition. It still shows 95% of the original factory blue, with only some very minor holster wear at the muzzle and one small bad spot at the rear of the slide where something spilled on it and removed the finish. There is no pitting in this area, just no finish from a chemical reaction of some type that removed the bluing but did not affect the metal. The bore is excellent in this Sauer 38-H. It is bright and clean with sharp lands and grooves in the rifling. The original grips are also in good shape except for a small crack on each side that runs thru the screw cutout that has been stabilized with glue. The cracks are nearly invisible from the exterior, and neither go all the way thru the grip panel. The grips on these Sauers are notorious for degrading and coming apart over time, and many of these pistols you see today wear reproduction grips as a result. The grips on this pistol are 100% original. The magazine is also an original and in excellent shape, with strong spring pressure and no wear to speak of on the feed lips. Everything works 100% like it did the day it left the Sauer and Sohn factory. This Sauer 38-H comes with an original holster that is maker marked from a company in Berlin and dated 1942. I can't quite make out the maker's full name but it begins with A.D. Albert. The holster is in good shape with nice tight stitching but has had the extra mag pouch removed fromt he exterior. The G.I. that captured this rig penned his name on the inside of the flap and the rear of the holster, "Ross". These little Nazi pistols seem to go up every year in value and this particular pistol has a lot of eye appeal. It would be an excellent addition to any WW2 weapons collection.
