Description:
Serial #W4262, .303 British, 25" barrel with a very good bore that has dark freckling within the grooves. The metal surfaces of this 1912 dated rifle retains about 80-85% of an arsenal re-applied matte blue finish that has some fading and freckling on the matching nosecap, silvering on the bearing surfaces, and freckling on the receiver as well. The bolt has been renumbered to match, and likewise has some mild silvering on the bearing surfaces. The stock and handguards rate about very good and have an added military oil finish over numerous small handling marks and blemishes scattered throughout. The buttstock has a non-original disk on the right side, and the forearm number is hard to read, but looks like it's matching. The rifle comes with a WW2 era canvas sling, and does not have a magazine, however the magazine cut-off is fixed in place rendering the rifle a single-shot anyway. This is an about good SMLE overall.
