PENDING SALE:This is a like-new Shiloh Sharps 1874 #1 Sporter chambered in the awesome 50-90 Sharps, the "Big Fifty". This rifle was purchased from a collection, and I don't believe it has ever been fired.
The rifle has a case-colored receiver, Pewter nosecap, barrel-mounted ladder sights, an aftermarket tang-mounted long-range sight, checkered steel case-colored shotgun buttplate, and upgraded wood. The barrel is a 30" octagonal medium-heavy, and the rifle weighs about 10 1/2 lbs.
Test load was a 680gr Montana Grease-groove over 110gr of FFG for 1,365 fps. My friend has a near-identical rifle, and uses a 715gr paper-patch bullet or a 750gr "greaser". He uses his rifle to hunt in Africa. Any of these bullets will pass through a Bison or similar large animal with ease.
