Description:
Nice Colt 1878, 10 Gauge, Double Barrel Hammer Shotgun manufactured in 1880. This gun is fitted with 32 inch twisted steel barrels, double triggers, line engraved color case-hardened frame and side-plates, checkered Walnut forearm with ebony tip, checkered Walnut pistol grip stock with a line engraved steel butt-plate, engraved color case-hardened hammers, and blue finished and line engraved trigger guard and lower tang. The gun is in fine condition, retaining 60% of its original finishes, with the heaviest thinning on the bottom of the receiver, lower tang, and trigger guard due to handling. The action is tight and functions perfectly. The bores are somewhat rough, due to corrosion, and the all screw heads are mostly un-molested. The Walnut stock retains most all of its original finish and is nicely figured with minor handling marks. The forearm also retains most all of its original finish and is in very fine condition, with a scratch near the ebony tip and some minor handling marks. A nice example of its type. Comes with a Colt factory letter stating the gun was shipped on December 16, 1880 to Hartley & Graham located in New York, New York.
