Description:
This is one of approximately 604 No. 3 Second Model American revolvers manufactured for a shoulder stock. The included Factory Letter confirms the barrel length and smooth walnut grips. The revolver was shipped to M.W. Robinson of New York City, Smith & Wesson's largest distributor, on September 6, 1873. The revolver was part of 10 unit shipment which had 30 extension stocks
A British proof is stamped on each cylinder flute with an additional proof on the lower right side of the frame d on the underside of the barrel.  The assembly number "900" is stamped on the front cylinder face, barrel and barrel latch.  The matching serial number is stamped on the butt and right grip panel. The butt serial number is only partially visible due to cuts for the stock.
The frame exhibits 75% strong original blue finish.  The hammer and trigger guard retain traces of original case colors. The grips are very fine with some minor handling marks.  The stock is fine with a number of minor handling marks on the wood with the iron components retaining 40% original blue finish.  $13,500.
