The distinguishing features identifying this as a New York Contract Rolling Block rifle are: Curved and extremely high hammer spur, outward protruding thumb lever and the safety locking action which moves the hammer to half cock when closing the breech.It also has iron mountings with sling swivels and shows the regimental letter and number markings on the heel strap of the plate.
