Description:
Serial #1491, 10.6 x 25R, 4 1/2" part octagon barrel with a fine, bright bore that traces of freckling near the muzzle. This is a Mauser-made revolver that has traces of original blue in protected areas, while the balance has turned to a lightly freckled plum-brown patina with some specks of pinprick pitting here and there. The numbers are mostly matching, however a few of the frame screws are numbered to different guns. The walnut grips rate about very good with an armory added varnish over minor handling marks and scratches on both panels, and a large unit stamp is present on the backstrap: “55.R.R.12.1." (52nd Reserve Infantry Regiment). An original brown leather flap holster is included that is maker marked "STECHER/FREIBERG" on the back, along with an inventory inkstamp and handwritten name on the interior. The holster has some mild crazing and small surface scuffs along with some light surface damage to the closure tab. This is a very nice, Officers Model Reichsrevolver that rates very good plus-fine condition overall. FFl or C&R
