Early first year production with squareback trigger guard. Sharp gun with a smooth gray patina. Cylinder scene still visible. Gun is all matching. Action works perfectly. Back strap inscribed “Sterling Price St. Louis, MO 1854”. Sterling Price was a Mexican war hero, Governor of Missouri and Civil War General. He was known to his men as “Old Pap” and is most famous for taking his men into Mexico instead of surrendering during the Civil War. He attempted to join the army of Maximilian but was rejected. He set up a colony in Veracruz which ultimately failed. He returned to Missouri where he died in October of 1867 almost penniless. Along with his gun comes his Missouri marked Slim Jim holster. Accompanying this gun is a brief biography along with two books; The Last Hurrah by Kyle Sinisi and General Sterling Price and the Civil War in the West by Albert Casteel. Very historic gun belonging to a very famous Confederate General! SOLD |
