Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: Colt began to use the etched panel "Colt Frontier Six Shooter" legend on their 44/40 chambered Single Actions in 1878 at the request of J.P. Moore's and Son of New York, one of their largest customers. This gun, serial number 52447, is a very nice early example of its type. Most of the exterior blue finish was probably "rubbed off" in cleaning, for there is no evidence of oxidation or corrosion outside or inside. There are traces of blue and bright case colors in the protected areas, and the grips retain 95% of their original varnish. The bore is excellent and shows no pitting. The exterior is smooth, the edges are sharp, and the screw-heads are in very good condition. This was a well cared for gun and is mechanically perfect. Comes with factory letter stating it was shipped to McCarthy & Redfield , location unknown, on September 2, 1879. Upon further research it has been found that McCarthy & Redfield was located in Syracuse, New York. Antique firearm, FFL not required.
