Description:

RARE Antique ENGRAVED Brass FLINTLOCK Powder Tester

Very Nice 18th Century Gadget for Testing Black Powder

Here we present an antique European Flintlock Powder Tester, made circa the late 1700s. Powder testers were used to measure the efficacy of black powder. It was essentially a pistol that had no provision to fire a projectile, but instead vented the burning gasses into a plate that turned the attached wheel. The wheel is marked from 5 to 30. The frame is made of brass. The sides are lightly engraved.

The overall condition is fine. The brass and iron parts are dark with an aged patina. The markings are clear. The grip is smooth and in very nice condition. The action is strong. Here is a great example of a flintlock powder tester!

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
