Antique W.W. Greener MARTINI Single Shot .22 Rifle
Converted for the NRA, Dated 1886
Here we present an antique British BSA & M Co. Martini Rifle, originally made in 1886, converted to .22 Long Rifle by W.W. Greener for the NRA circa the early 1900s. W.W. Greener was a maker of firearms beginning in 1829. By the late 19th and early 20th Century Greener was very well known for his high end target rifles, small bore training rifles, take down rifles, and conversions of military rifles to small bore rifles and shotguns.
This specimen is marked with a “Crown/V.R./B.S.A. & M. Co./1886” on the right side of the receiver. Proof and acceptance marks are found throughout. The left side of the receiver is marked “CONVERTED FOR THE N.R.A. BY W.W. GREENER”.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces are dark with age. The markings are clear and legible. The stock has very nice grain with a metal butt plate. The toe and top of the wrist have been repaired. The sights are replacements. The bore is well-rifled and in very good condition. The action is excellent. The trigger is very crisp.
