French Swivel Barrel Flintlock Holster Pistol. Lock signed “G. Desilier” Giles Desilier is listed in Stockel as working in Paris from 1700 to 1735. This is a double barrel .60 caliber swivel breech holster pistol. Barrel length is 12 7/8” and overall length 20 ¼”. Buttcap is the “long ear” type with grotesque mask on buttcap. Behind the upper tang there is a brass floral motif inlay with a figure of a man in Roman helmet and cape. Left side of stock is stylized creature with rococco floral sprays. Gun is in very good plus overall condition. Barrels have a thinning blue. Note: the barrels have been extended 4 ¾”. The extension was very well done. Very fine French Flintlock and rare in this size with swivel barrel feature. Note: barrel swivels by pulling back on the trigger guard.
