Antique REMINGTON-SMOOT New Model No. 3 Revolver
WILD WEST .38 Caliber 5-Shot Pocket Pistol
Here we present an antique Remington-Smoot New Model No. 3 Revolver, made circa 1880 in Ilion, New York. The years of production were 1878 to 1888, with a total of about 25,000 made. There were several variants, most of them with the so-called “saw-handle” grip. This specimen represents one of only 6,500 made with the “bird’s head” grip shape, which is shorter and more curvaceous.
This revolver was designed for defensive carry, and would have been equally at home in a holster, pocket or purse. With 5 rounds of .38, one could get themselves out of most scrapes.
Overall condition is fine. The nickel finish is about 80%. The markings are clear and legible. The grips are solid. The bore is in good condition. The action is very good.
