Webley & Scott model 700 boxlock SxS 16 gauge shotgun. W&S made one of the most iconic and most sought after English boxlock shotguns with their 700 series and this nice 16 is a good example. The 26” barrels have .662” mirror bright bores and choked .008” (IC) and .014” (Mod) topped with a smooth, concave solid rib with a slight taper. The receiver is handsomely floral engraved and finished in factory case colors retaining approximately 70% colors with slight bottom edge wear. The blue trigger guard has 65% original blue. The outside of the barrels have 90-95% original blue with some muzzle wear and a few very light spots of surface rusting. The straight grip stock has a 14 ¼” LOP to the checkered butt, 1 ½” DAC & 2 3/8” DAH with a slight right hand cast. The forearm is a semi beavertail configuration. Both the stock and forearm have 98% original finishes. Classic styling with proper double triggers, automatic ejectors and automatic safety. Perfect mechanically. It weighs a scant 5 lbs. 15 oz. and balances perfectly between the hands. There is an escutcheon in the bottom edge of the buttstock with the initials “JSB”. This maybe the ultimate upland game gun!
