This is a Mosin carbine variation not often seen. Called by some the "Cold War Carbine" or "KGB Carbine", this Mosin Nagant 91/59 Carbine is a neat weapon. It was based off of a 91/30 rifle being cut down to carbine length. There is some debate as to whether the Bulgarians built these or whether it was the Russians. What is known for sure is that these carbines were the 1959 "carbine variation" of the 1891 Mosin Nagant rifle and were created during the height of the Cold War from rifles built during World War 2. They show a much nicer degree of fit and finish than any other Mosin variation with a true gloss blue finish, and they typically lack all of the machining marks you see on other Mosin Nagant models. As you can see in the pictures, rather than having a true carbine sight like the Model 38 Carbine, the original rifle sight was machined down to remove all of the settings above 1100 Meters. This example appears to be in excellent overall condition, with everything working 100% like it was intended. The bore is in very good condition as well with nice strong rifling.
