Winchesters Model 1873 Sporting Rifle with Factory 24 inch octagon barrel .44-40wcf. The serial number of this rifle is 2437XX placing date of manufacture in 1887. Overall condition is near excellent, I would rate the overall finish at 80-85% original untouched factory Rust Blue. The bore is near perfect with strong rifling and shine from breech to muzzle. I would rate the bore a 9 on a 1 to 10 scale. Case Colors can be seen on the Lever and Hammer. The action is tight, smooth and mechanically perfect. The stock is "Extra Fancy" walnut with near Deluxe quality. Wood to meal fit is perfect...Wood sits proud at all metal contacts. Gorgeous untouched Third Model 1873.
