The Franchi 620VS was my first shotgun. I have owned mine for about three months.
Two methods of inquiry led to my ultimate decision and subsequent purchase: online research, and hands-on testing.
Indeed, it was online research that led me initially to the Franchi. Comments overwhelmingly pointed to the gun's excellent quality, reasonable pricing, versatility, and low recoil. To keep company with the names Beretta and Benelli for around $600 seemed impressive. And all the rumors suggested that the 620 would be fine for sporting clays and superb for upland game birds, which suited my intended applications well.
When I felt comfortable with my online investigation, I went in search of the actual item. The only one in my area (Boise) was a very slightly used one. It had fired but a few tens of rounds, showed no sign of wear, and had already been shimmed perfectly for my shouldering technique and physical characteristics (I am 5'11", 170 lbs.). I was pleased with the classy appearance of the whole gun, and the lightness of it blew me away. Hence, I adopted it and took it home with me.
So now I am a big Franchi 620 fan. Most weekends find me and the Franchi out in the desert pulverizing clay pigeons thrown by a couple of fellow new-initiate shotgun lovers. What a blast!
