RARE Allen & Wheelock SIDE HAMMER Pocket Revolver
Civil War-Era Percussion Revolver
Here we present an antique Allen & Wheelock Side Hammer Pocket Revolver, made circa 1861 in Worcester, Massachusetts. This little revolver is one of only about 750 produced. It was designed for defensive carry and could easily fit in a coat pocket. An interesting feature is the loading lever that forms the front of the trigger guard and latches at the back of the guard. The cylinder axis pin inserts behind the cylinder, much like the Colt Root Revolver. The cylinder scene is a pastoral scene with birds and deer.
The overall condition is that of a relic. Some of the cylinder scene remains. The action is not functional. Nevertheless, here is a rare and interesting specimen!
