Description:

1890 Antique “GEM” Blank Firing Pistol

“the standard ‘Fourth of July’ pistol of the country”

Here we present an antique “GEM” Blank Firing Pistol, made circa 1890. This Deringer style pistol may look like it would slip easily into your pocket for self-defense during the 19th century, but this little gun is meant for celebration according to an advertisement by Lovell Arms Co. in 1890. They claimed that it was “unrivalled for celebration purposes” and “the standard ‘Fourth of July’ pistol of the country.”

It was not meant to fire a projectile, but instead took .22 rimfire blank cartridges. There are no markings whatsoever on this gun, but it is generally accepted that it was produced by Iver Johnson Company of Fitchburg, Massachusetts.

Overall condition is good. Metal surfaces are bright. The grips are in good shape, with the left panel being repaired of a crack. The hammer has lots of spring tension, but will not hold cock and the trigger is immobile.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 2 inches.

Caliber: .22 Rimfire Blanks Only

Overall condition as seen in photos.
