Civil War Era Cannonball Gauge / Caliper Stamped U.S. These were used to measure cannonballs fired by the enemy to gauge if they could be recycled and fired back at the enemy from your own cannon. The U.S. stamp on the leg indicates that these were used by Union artillerymen. This is and original antique Civil War gauge. A great collectable for any lover of history.
