Description:
There was an order for 5000 of these from the Meriden Firearms Co in New Haven for use by the Kentucky Home Guard to protect Sherman on his march to Atlanta but they were never delivered in time. This example is totally original with all original finish and even a mint bore. It has a drying crack on the left side of the stock as most have because of the method of inletting the magazine tube. These are quite rare however and one just sold at Rock Island for a lot more and many parts were refinished on their example - this is totally original in all respects even including sights, etc. Take a good look at the photos for condition. This is an antique so no ffl or c&r required for purchase.
