Personal Check with hold Description: This is a very nice cap and ball percussion sidearm, this specimen is a complete Civil War Colt Model 1860 Army revolver in very good original condition. Comes with Colt Archive Letter! In production from 1860 through 1873, these handguns were the successor to the Colt Third Model Dragoon pistols. The Model 1860 Army was the major sidearm in use by U.S. troops during the Civil War with over 127,000 Colt revolvers acquired by the Union government during the conflict. This revolver is a .44 caliber, three-screw model with a 6-shot rebated cylinder and an 8” long barrel. Strong rifling with an excellent bright bore. Grips are original one-piece walnut in excellent condition with both sides having well struck cartouches and the usual light "tack" marks on the butt. This Revolver has matching serial numbers #54143 on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, butt strap, cylinder, and wedge. The Serial number dates the manufacture in 1862. Sidearm is equipped with recoil shield cutouts on the frame and the small notch on the base of the butt plate. Mechanics are perfect. Barrel address is clear and reads “ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW - YORK U.S. AMERICA”. Cylinder scene is complete and visible. The “COLTS / PATENT” marks on the left side are sharp and clear. All nipples original and in fine condition. Screw heads are in very good condition. Brass trigger guard is a pleasing brass patina. Case color traces remain on frame and trigger. All gun metal exhibits a nice blue to plum colored patina.
