Description:
Beautiful, NY engraved, Colt lightning revolver with deluxe checkered fancy rosewood grips, attributed to L.D. Nimschke, himself. The zig-zag line engraving on the cylinder, including inside the fluted area, as well as inside the groove in the top strap, the back strap, and the "conch shell" design on both sides of the frame of the revolver are all trademarks of Nimschke himself. The grips are very nice and are original to the gun, and fit perfect . Rare to find deluxe checkered rosewood grips on an antique 1880's engraved gun, as most were either pearl or ivory. Barrel address, and all serial #'s are very clear, and match. Action works perfectly in both single and double action. The bore is excellent, with strong rifling. As with any Colt revolver shipped prior to the mid 1881 era, to the NY dealers to be engraved, the finish was listed as blue. It was not until the mid 1881 era, that the revolvers will letter as "soft". Please ask questions if desired. Buyer to pay $40.00 shipping which includes insurance, to the lower 48 states.
