Description:
Winchester Model 1894 Sporting Rifle .38-55. The serial number of this example is 3XX placing time of manufacture in November 1894 (100% premium)! This early example has the very desirable "10:00 O'Clock Screw". Will letter with Cody. Overall condition is very good. In my opinion this rifle has retained most of the original factory rust blue that has toned to a very nice even patina. Bright blue will be found in protected areas of the receiver. I can see approx. 10% "Fire Blue" remaining on the loading gate. This rifle was well cared for as far as the bore is concerned. The bore is near perfect with strong rifling throughout. The bore is shiny from breech to muzzle. The bore will rate an 8.5 on a 1 to 10 scale with no damage observed. The action is tight, smooth and mechanically perfect. Wood sits proud at all metal contact. The stock has typical hits and dings, no cracks or breaks. Very rare Winchester 1894 !!
