SOLD! For Sale is one box of 82/100 Winchester No 4 Primers "for Leader, Repeater, Metal Lined and Pigeon SMOKELESS POWDER PAPER SHOT SHELLS."
The box is in exceptional, original condition. It has been opened and 18 primers are missing. Paper end caps are present. The primers are marked with a "W" and measure .177" which is consistent with records indicating these were manufactured between 1896 to 1904. These dates are also appropriate within the period when metal lined, paper shot shells were in production. The primers themselves are also in exceptional condition - not shiny but no sign of corrosion or deterioration. I would not be surprised if they remain viable!
