Description:
Immaculate First Generation Colt Frontier Six-Shooter Revolver TEXAS Shipped

With Custom Engraving, Gold Inlay and Pearl Grip

Here we present a First Generation Colt Single Frontier Six-Shooter, made in 1916 in Hartford, Connecticut. Known by many different names—Model 1873, Single Action Army and the Peacemaker, just to name a few—this very revolver has become iconic of the U.S. and particularly the West.

This specimen was shipped in an order of 10 to Krakauer, Zork & Moye Company, a wholesale hardware dealer in El Paso, on November 29, 1916. The firm also had a location in San Antonio as well as Chihuahua, Mexico, and was one of the largest firms of its kind in the region. According to El Paso and the Mexican Revolution, the firm provided Mexican Pancho Villa and his revolutionaries or insurrectos with “large amounts of arms and ammunition”.

The factory letter accurately describes the serial number, caliber and barrel length. This piece was shipped blued, and was engraved thereafter. The gun features superb mother of pearl grips with the Colt medallion inlaid on each side. The frame, grip frame, trigger guard, cylinder and barrel feature 85% engraving coverage. Large scroll flourishes are dominant, with tiny zig-zags as a background as opposed to punch dot. The grip frame, cylinder and ejector housing are finished in gold, while the balance is nickeled.

The overall condition is fine. Virtually the entirety of the gold is present. The rest of the gun retains nearly 100% of its nickel finish. The mother of pearl is bright and iridescent, hardly to be improved upon. The serial numbers match. Bore is in good condition. The action is excellent.

This comes with a Colt factory archive letter on company letterhead and with an embossed seal authenticating this beautiful revolver.

This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.

Barrel is 4-3/4 inches in length.

Caliber: 44-40

The bore is in very good condition and the firing mechanism is excellent.

Overall condition as seen in photos.
