Description:
For sale just in time for many modern rifle deer seasons around the U.S., a 1976 vintage Remington Model 700 BDL chambered in the venerable 30-06 cartridge complete with Redfield rings and a 1 piece base.  This July of 1976 production Remington 700 BDL is in great condition overall with just some minor handling marks and a perfect bore.  The original Remington factory gloss blue finish still looks great and rates a solid 95% with no signs of pitting, just some very minor high edge wear.  The 22 inch barrel is drilled and tapped for the original iron sights that it left the factory with, and has a minty and bright bore.  The rifling still has sharp lands and grooves and there is no signs of pitting or erosion.  The action is very smooth and locks up tight, and the trigger is both light and breaks crisply.  At some point the trigger has had a trigger shoe installed, as you can see where the two set screws were tightened against the right side of the trigger.   The alloy trigger guard and floorplate are in very good condition, only showing some small spots of marring and handling marks in the black finish.  The checkered Walnut stock with an ebony tip is in excellent shape overall.  It is free from cracks or repairs, and still has the factory gloss finish intact.  It came with a checkered black pistol grip cap and a black plastic Remington branded butt plate originally.  The pistol grip cap is still installed but the butt plate has been replaced with a recoil pad.  The checkering on both the pistol grip and forearm is still nice and clean and has not been worn dull.  The Pachmayer recoil pad was fit to the rifle somewhat crudely and could be improved with a little elbow grease and sandpaper.  You can see this in the pictures provided.  The length of pull is a little over 13.5 inches to the end of the pad.  This rifle comes with a set of vintage Redfield 1-inch rings and a 1-piece Redfield base already installed and just needs a scope mounted up to be ready for the woods and range.  These BDL models were the best Remington factory rifle available and this example was made during a time that Remington was well known for great quality and attention to detail.  If you have been looking for a nice vintage Remington 700 to take to the woods this year or add to your collection this rifle would be an excellent choice.  While it has been used, it was certainly not used much and was well cared for.
